Expert Subfloor Preparation for LVT in Bidborough
Luxury Vinyl Tiles are popular for kitchens and bathrooms across Bidborough, but older properties often have uneven, creaking suspended timber floorboards. Laying LVT directly over these boards leads to click-joint failure and squeaks.
My approach is thorough. First, I secure any squeaking floorboards directly to the joists using countersunk wood screws. I then install a 6mm flooring-grade plywood overlay (complying with BS 8203:2017 Annex A), stapling the sheets in a dense grid pattern to create a flat, rigid and completely quiet foundation before laying your vinyl or LVT. On concrete subfloors I test the relative humidity with a digital hygrometer and apply a damp-proof membrane and latex self-levelling compound where needed.
Fitting LVT in Bidborough
Bidborough is a small Kentish village between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, with a village-centre mix of period cottages around the church and green alongside later 20th-century family housing on its outer roads. Whatever the age of your Bidborough property, I assess the subfloor properly before fitting rather than laying LVT over a surface that isn't ready for it.
